Jere Hutcheson is noted for his compositions for wind symphony, orchestra, choir, chamber groups, and solo piano. He is a professor of composition at Michigan State University.

  • Jere Hutcheson plans to retire from Michigan State University in May, 2016 after 51 years as a professor in the College of Music.

    The Gnarwhallaby Quartet will perform Hutcheson's Passing, Passing, Passing at the Los Angeles City College on April 15, 2016. Passing is scored for soprano, clarinet, trombone, violoncello, and piano. This performance will feature soprano Justine AronsonPassing was commissioned by the American Artists Series to celebrate the nation's sesquicentennial and was premiered at the Cranbrook Academy of Art Museum in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan on January 11, 1976.

    On October 19, 2016 guest conductor Wesley Broadnax led the Temple University Wind Ensemble in a brilliant performance of Jere Hutcheson's Caricatures (1996)
